The 6th Annual Family and Friends Day was a huge success as hundreds of family, friends and community members flocked to the Bard Complex on a blustery fall day. Magician Kurt Kunsch confounded the crowd with his sleight of hand trickery and Elvis impersonator, TJ Fitzpatrick, failed to disappoint as many in attendance remarked that he sounded ‘just like Elvis’. In addition to the class act entertainment, those in attendance enjoyed a hearty bowl of hot soup home made by Chef Ann Coll. Grilled hot dogs, homemade coleslaw and chips rounded out the hearty meal.
New this year was the pony rides and petting zoo. Branchwood Stables provided two horses, one small for littlest among us and a larger one for the kids among us who never want to grow up. Additionally, Branchwood Stables brought along a bunny, a goat, and a donkey for children to enjoy. Rounding out the children’s activities were lawn games, face painting and crafts.
More than 300 people attended this year’s event making it the most popular on record. With the support of our many sponsors and proceeds from the Basket Raffle and 50/50 Raffle, more than $6,000 was raised to support the Petra on the Go Transportation program.
