Petra Community Housing and Phoenixville Communities That Care (PhxCTC) are pleased to announce our new formal relationship. Starting in July, PhxCTC, under the direction of Dolores Winston, began working out of their new office at SteelTown Village (STV) in Phoenixville, PA.
PhxCTC has served our SteelTown Village residents in multiple ways over the past year. This has included providing school supplies to STV children at the start of school, as part of our backpack program, and Christmas gifts to the children at the end of 2022. PhxCTC has recently completed the Mr. Cool program, a mentoring program for boys in middle school, which met in the community room at STV for a six-week period at the end of school year.
Both PhxCTC and Petra hope that the formal relationship will facilitate and fuel the following programs to be offered to the benefit of STV residents and the greater Phoenixville Area residents:
- After-school tutoring program.
- Evening Parent Café events program.
- Youth mentoring programs.
- Restart a summer day camp on site in cooperation with Penn State 4-H (2024).
Dolores has an enormous heart for helping to empower individuals in our community as she has done for many years already. Petra is excited to work with Dolores and PhxCTC, as our compatible and complementary missions provide a synergistic springboard for assisting even more community residents.
