STV Back to School Celebration
August means back to school for many of our SteelTown Village residents. Each year Petra celebrates this season by hosting an event to encourage these students and help them prepare for the new school year. On a hot Wednesday afternoon, about 20 of our residents gathered in the STV Community Room to celebrate the new season. The children in attendance each chose a backpack containing school supplies to help them get started. Everyone enjoyed Rita’s Italian Ice and Philly Pretzels.
SteelTown Village currently has 41 children under the age of 18. For those attending the Phoenixville Area School District, August 28 is the first day of the 2025-2026 school year. The National Retail Federation says parents are budgeting an average of $144 for school supplies. And that’s not counting the cost of new clothes, shoes, and electronics, which raises the cost to over $800. Petra is pleased to be able to help STV families lower the cost of a new school year by providing backpacks and some of the other necessary school supplies.
